Do you think your government should invest in research resulting in treatments that will initially be expensive and will not be covered by public medical insurance?

Targeted drug delivery is an upcoming method for treatment of cancer. It helps reduce the dosage of medicine and may eliminate side effects. A different drug is often required for each type of cancerous tumor which raises the cost of development for these drugs.

Do you think your government should invest in this type of research given that the treatment will initially be expensive and will not be covered by public medical insurance?

Choices

No – governments should only invest in research whose outcome will benefit all taxpayers.

Maybe – governmental investments should be made if these have a considerable chance of paying themselves back in sales.

Yes – governmental financing should be given to any research that holds promise of success regardless of cost of development.
